royal poinciana

noun

: a showy Madagascan tree (Delonix regia synonym Poinciana regia) widely planted for its immense racemes of scarlet and orange flowers. Back home in Puerto Rico we call it "Flamboyan". "Flamboyant," a synonym for exuberant, confident, lively, animated, vibrant, stylish and vivacious. Author's note: I chose this tree because it represents the best memories I have of home. In addition to qualities I choose to live by 😉.

I digress. Back to the introduction...

Puerto Rico, the island of enchantment as it is called. Is my birthplace. There you can find unlimited fresh coconuts at the beach. Fiery red trees that come to life in the wind. Pitter patter of children's feet. The smell of sweet juicy mangoes rotting on the soil. Air so dense you can run through the humid air as if dancing with a clear veil. Little tiny frogs the size of coins belting out a symphony of chimes to remind you the evening has come. Music that moves your spirit with the passionate vibration of drums.

Within said paradise my heart was restless. My imagination hungry to see, feel, taste, experience more. There were stories out there, daring adventures. Sweeping romances, fantastic beasts waiting to be discovered. This fueled my desire to find a different way in life. Devouring books of hobbits leaving the shire. Plain looking governesses running through the moors in search of their freedom. A little mermaid longing for feet to dance on the sand. These stories shaped my path . So I left the island to create my own daring tale. Which, like "The Never Ending Story" is still being written.

My vision...?

I believe you must bring your whole self to the table if you want to thrive in today’s crazy world; your personality, your sense of humor, and most importantly, your heart. All of these elements brought me to start Poinciana: A Learning Bodega*. With the goal of offering readers a glimpse into my thoughts and experiences. It's title? Inspired by the two greatest loves of my life. Puerto Rico and New York City. Take some time to explore the blog and quench your curiosity with the stories being told. Read on and enjoy!
